FAQ
What is it?
A month-long series (April 24 to May 22) of challenges open to anyone who wants to play. Compete against teams from around the world for weekly prizes, as well as final Grand Prizes (valued at $2,000!). Play solo or with a team of up to 5 people. You can join any time and still win!
How do I play?
Starting April 24, check our site every Friday for a fresh list of challenges. Submit a photo or video of your team completing each challenge through our private Google Form. Earn points for each challenge you submit. You can join with only a week left and still win!
Remember, challenges can be submitted at any time – this is not a race.
Who can join?
Anyone with an adventurous spirit and a taste for competition. Seriously—everyone is welcome. No previous camp experience required and no entry fee to join. This is a virtual challenge designed to connect Jewish young adults in the world’s largest color war.
Do I need to have attended Camp Nai Nai Nai in order to participate?
No. Expedition Nai is for everyone!
What if I’m late to join?
It’s okay – you can still win! You can complete challenges from past weeks for points. You may not be able to complete all of them, but enough to still be competitive for the Grand Prize. And you can win the weekly prizes we’ll be awarding along the way!
How and what do I win?
Each challenge is worth a certain number of points. The teams with the most points at the end of the game win!
Weekly, we will award prizes to creative entries. At the end of the game, we will award the Grand Champion with a prize valued at $2,000 USD.
Do I have to commit an entire month to this?
No – there is no commitment required at all. How much you participate is up to you–dip your toes in with a challenge or two, or dive in deep to complete as many challenges as possible.
Are there teams?
Yes and no. Players can sign up as individuals or as teams of up to 5 people.
There aren’t teams in the traditional sense of color war.
Is it better to play on a team or alone?
There is no advantage either way – a large majority of the challenges only require one person. However, you can always ask a non-team member for assistance on the challenges that need an extra person.
What are the challenges?
Without giving too much away, the challenges are a mix of creative tasks (home fashion show, anyone?), do-good activities (when’s the last time you wrote an actual letter?) and, of course, Jewish rituals (how are you counting the Omer?). The challenges are designed to surprise and delight, but most of all, to get you out of your quarantine routine to do something fun and different, as often as you’d like, on your own terms.
When do I need to submit challenges?
All challenges must be submitted by 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time on Thursday May 21, 2020 to be considered for the Grand Prize.
Do I need to purchase any supplies?
No. A majority of challenges can be completed with materials already in your own home.
Do I need to leave my house to complete any challenges?
No. We recommend you follow all guidelines regarding social distancing in your local area.
Will I need to post everything to social media?
No. Submissions are through a private Google Form and the Expedition Nai Facebook Group is for registered teams only. Sometimes, there will be challenges that will offer bonus points for posting on your social media about the game.
What are Virtual Playshops?
A camp Color War is all about those outrageous and unforgettable activities. That’s what you’ll get at our Playshops (“workshop” + “play”—because there’s no “work” in Color War). There are certain challenges that can only be completed by attending the Virtual Playshops.
What are ‘Welcome to the NAIghborhood’ Flagpole Meetings?
Just like the Playshops – there are challenges that you can only complete by Meeting at the Flagpole. You will interact with other teams from around the world – building community, swapping stories, and meeting new friends.
What are Moishe House Exclusives?
These challenges are only available for Moishe House Residents and Hosts. There is a maximum of 10 points each Week that can be earned in this category.
What is the Grand Finale Event?
An incredible global gathering of teams from around the world where we celebrate the best of the Expedition and announce the winners live!
Do the challenges have an accessibility requirement?
We did our best to make the challenges as inclusive as possible. We encourage you to be free and loose in your interpretations of the challenge and modify it as needed 🙂 If you have any questions – message us – we’re here to help!
